Alexander Girard x Target
This project explores a conceptual brand collaboration between Alexander Girard and Target, developed through an innovative and cohesive packaging system. The design solutions draw inspiration from Girard’s past artwork, iconic textiles from the 1960s–70s, and Target’s history of artist collaborations. The goal was to elevate his home décor collections by extending them into thoughtfully designed bathroom accessories, creating a partnership that feels both accessible and artful.
The target audience for this collaboration is consumers seeking to expand their perspective on accessible design, offering the opportunity to purchase affordable pieces created by an established artist. The packaging system was built around variations of a unified design solution, with each product utilizing contrast, scale, proportion, and repetition in distinct ways. This ensured that every item maintained individuality while still fitting seamlessly within the larger system. The packaging prototypes were crafted using decal paper, mat board, spray paint, woodblock stamps (8.5x11 in), and fabric ink applied to purchased items, resulting in a cohesive yet dynamic collection.
